Kale Kiwi Smoothie

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup Kale, chopped
  • 2 Apples
  • 3 Kiwis
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 1 tablespoon royal jelly
  • 1 cup crushed ice

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Wash and chop the kale into small pieces, removing any tough stems.
  2. Peel the apples and kiwis, then cut them into chunks.
  3. In a blender, add the chopped kale, apple chunks, kiwi chunks, flax seeds, and royal jelly.
  4. Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and well combined.
  5. Add the crushed ice to the blender and blend again until the smoothie is chilled and has a slushy consistency.
  6. Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more royal jelly or a touch of honey, if desired.
  7. Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve immediately.

Here are some variations of the kale, apple, and kiwi smoothie recipe:

  1. Tropical Twist: Add 1 cup of frozen pineapple chunks and 1/2 cup of coconut milk to the blender along with the kale, apple, kiwi, flax seeds, and royal jelly. This will give the smoothie a tropical flavor and a creamy texture.
  2. Green Boost: Boost the nutritional content by adding 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and a handful of spinach to the smoothie. The chia seeds will add healthy fats and fiber, while the spinach will enhance the green color and provide additional nutrients.
  3. Banana Berry: Replace one of the apples with a ripe banana and add 1/2 cup of frozen mixed berries (such as blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries) to the blender. This will add natural sweetness and antioxidants to the smoothie.
  4. Creamy Avocado: Add 1/2 ripe avocado to the blender for a creamy and indulgent twist. Avocado not only adds a smooth texture but also provides healthy fats and essential nutrients.
  5. Protein Power: Boost the protein content of the smoothie by adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder. You can use whey protein, plant-based protein, or collagen peptides, depending on your dietary preferences.
  6. Citrus Burst: Replace one of the kiwis with the juice of half an orange or add a splash of fresh lemon or lime juice. The citrus flavors will brighten up the smoothie and add a zesty twist.
  7. Spice it Up: Add a pinch of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger to the smoothie for a warm and cozy flavor profile. These spices also have health benefits and can aid digestion.
  8. Minty Fresh: Add a handful of fresh mint leaves to the blender for a refreshing and cooling effect. Mint pairs well with the sweetness of the fruits and adds a burst of flavor.
  9. Creamy Coconut: Replace the crushed ice with 1/2 cup of coconut water and 1/2 cup of coconut milk. This tropical variation will add a creamy texture and a subtle coconut flavor to the smoothie.
  10. Peanut Butter Power: Add 1-2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter to the blender. Peanut butter complements the flavors of kale, apple, and kiwi and adds a protein boost to the smoothie.
  11. Berry Blast: Add a mix of your favorite berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, to the smoothie along with the kale, apple, and kiwi. This will create a vibrant and antioxidant-rich smoothie.
  12. Chocolate Delight: Mix in 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao powder to the smoothie for a chocolatey twist. You can also add a splash of almond milk for a creamier texture.
