INGREDIENTS
- 1 whole chicken
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3-8 garlic cloves, or use garlic salt or garlic powder to your liking
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 head cabbage
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Pepper
PREPARATION
- Season chicken and place in slow cooker/Crock Pot. Add onion and garlic cloves and salt and pepper. Fill slow cooker/Crock Pot 1/4-way with water, cover and cook on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours. The chicken should be tender and falling off of the bone.
- During the last hour of cooking the chicken, cut up 1 head of green cabbage, core removed. Place cabbage in a large pot with a shallow amount of water — about 1/2-to 1 cup.
- Add two tablespoons of butter and sprinkle generously with garlic salt and pepper. Cover and cook on medium high heat for 20 to 30 minutes, until tender; drain.
- When chicken and cabbage are done, place some cabbage in a bowl and top with chicken and some of the chicken broth. You can adjust any of the seasonings and the butter.
