WINTER WARMER

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

This hearty oatmeal is easy, has a wonderfully nutty texture, and will keep you going all morning. You can make it super-fast, even without buying those just-add-water instant oatmeal packets.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup Oats (either regular or quick-cooking)
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • Salt
  • ½ to ¾ cup Water (depending on how thick you like your oatmeal)
  • Honey
  • Fresh or dried fruit
  • Nuts

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, mix the oats with brown sugar, cinnamon, and a dash of salt.

  3. Let the oatmeal rest for a minute or two.
  4. Drizzle the oatmeal with a bit of honey.
  5. Add fresh or dried fruit and nuts on top.
  6. Enjoy your delicious and nutritious oatmeal breakfast!
