New York pizza is famously known for its crust and flavor. The NY pizza dough is very classic. The end of the dough is bite thicker however, the center part is thin enough to fold. It is made of flour, sugar, salt, instant yeast and olive oil. The dough is super easy to make and you need few simple ingredients. Make the dough and let it rest for at least one day up to three days. This proofing method is the actual secret behind this classic recipe of NY pizza. It slows down dough’s fermentation and brings distinctive flavor to it. The mozzarella used is dry and shredded instead of fresh because it melts evenly and gives brown lovely spots of cheese. Just like the NYC pizza this recipe makes a thin, crisp and less bubbly crust. Top it up with pizza sauce, mozzarella and any toppings of your choice. Ingredients:
- 4 cups bread flour
- 1 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 340ml lukewarm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella
- 1 ½ cup sour cream
- 2 ½ cups cooked egg noodles
Instructions:
- Add flour, salt, sugar and yeast in electric mixer bowl.
- In a separate bowl add lukewarm water and oil.
- Turn on the mixer at medium and add water and oil mixture to dry ingredients. Addenough water so the dough forms the shape of ball. Alternatively, you can alsomake the dough by kneading with your hands on a floured surface.
- When dough is nice and ready, divide it in three equal balls and place in container with lid. Refrigerate for at least one day to let it rise. This dough can also be frozen for future use.
- Let the dough sit at room temperature for about 2 hours before baking.
- Preheat the oven to 500F. Place pizza stone in it or you can also use tray.
- Take one of the dough balls and spread it on a floured surface and using your knuckles roll it into 12 inch circle about ¼ inch thick. Place it on baking tray and spread pizza sauce on it. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella as much as you can also add your favorite toppings. Slide pizza onto baking stone and let bake for 12 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Transfer to a cutting board, slice with pizza cutter and serve in a plate.
