I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 ripe banana, cut into chunks and frozen
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon OR 1 tsp cocoa powder (or both)
  • Optional: 1 tbsp almond butter

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Peel a ripe banana and cut it into small chunks.
  2. Place the banana chunks in an airtight container or a plastic bag. Freeze the banana chunks until they are completely frozen, usually for about 2 to 4 hours or overnight.
  3. Once the banana chunks are frozen, take them out of the freezer.
  4. In a blender or food processor, add the frozen banana chunks. If you want to flavor your banana ice cream, add either 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, 1 tsp of cocoa powder, or both, depending on your preference.
  5. If you’re using almond butter, add it to the blender as well.
  6. Blend the frozen banana and any added ingredients in the blender until smooth and creamy. You might need to stop the blender and scrape down the sides a few times to ensure even blending.
  7. Once the mixture reaches a smooth consistency, it will resemble soft-serve ice cream.
  8. If you prefer a firmer texture, you can transfer the mixture to an airtight container and freeze it for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  9. Scoop the banana ice cream into a bowl and enjoy immediately as a healthy and delicious ice cream alternative.
  10. If desired, you can also add additional toppings such as chopped nuts, berries, or a drizzle of honey for extra flavor and texture.

1. Berry Blast Banana Ice Cream:

  • Freeze a banana and blend it with a handful of your favorite berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries) for a fruity and colorful ice cream.
  • Add a touch of honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness.

2. Tropical Paradise Banana Ice Cream:

  • Freeze a banana and blend it with frozen pineapple and mango chunks for a tropical-flavored treat.
  • Sprinkle shredded coconut on top for added texture.

3. Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream:

  • Blend a frozen banana with a spoonful of peanut butter for a creamy and nutty ice cream.
  • Top with crushed peanuts for a crunchy element.

4. Mint Chocolate Chip Banana Ice Cream:

  • Blend a frozen banana with a few drops of peppermint extract and a handful of dark chocolate chips for a refreshing and indulgent ice cream.

  • Blend a frozen banana with a shot of cooled brewed coffee and a touch of vanilla extract for a coffee-flavored dessert.

  • Blend a frozen banana with a mixture of your favorite nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, or cashews) for a rich and nutty ice cream.

7. Matcha Banana Ice Cream:

  • Blend a frozen banana with a teaspoon of matcha green tea powder for a unique and vibrant ice cream.
  • Top with a sprinkle of matcha powder for decoration.

8. Caramel Banana Ice Cream:

  • Blend a frozen banana with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a pinch of sea salt for a sweet and salty ice cream.
  • Add chopped dates or date caramel for natural sweetness.

9. Mixed Nut and Fruit Banana Ice Cream:

  • Blend a frozen banana with a mix of chopped nuts and dried fruits (such as raisins, apricots, and figs) for a trail mix-inspired ice cream.
