Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  3. Add the garlic to the skillet and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring until the flour is fully incorporated.

  7. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  8. Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  9. Push the onion mixture to the side of the skillet and add the chicken breasts to the center. Cook the chicken until it is browned on both sides, for about 3-4 minutes per side.
  10. Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked.
  11. Remove the skillet from the oven and place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each chicken breast. Return the skillet to the oven and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Serve the French Onion Chicken hot with the caramelized onions and the sauce from the skillet spooned over the chicken.
