I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup Dandelion greens
  • 1 cup Spinach
  • ½ cup tahini
  • 1 Red Radish
  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 1 cup lavender tea

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Brew a cup of lavender tea and let it cool to room temperature.
  2. Wash the dandelion greens and spinach thoroughly under cold water. Drain excess water.
  3. Chop the dandelion greens and spinach into smaller pieces.
  4. Slice the red radish into thin rounds.
  5. In a blender or food processor, combine the dandelion greens, spinach, tahini, and lavender tea.
  6. Blend the mixture until it forms a smooth and creamy consistency.
  7. Stir in the chia seeds and let the mixture sit for a few minutes to allow the chia seeds to absorb some liquid.
  8. Pour the smoothie into a glass and garnish with the sliced red radish on top.
  9. Enjoy your refreshing and nutritious dandelion green and spinach smoothie with a hint of lavender flavor.

Variations of the Dandelion Green and Spinach Smoothie:

  1. Citrus Twist: Add the juice of one orange or half a lemon to the smoothie for a citrusy kick. The bright flavors of citrus complement the earthy taste of dandelion greens and spinach.
  2. Tropical Fusion: Blend in half a cup of frozen pineapple or mango chunks to add a tropical twist to the smoothie. The sweetness of the fruits balances the bitterness of the dandelion greens.
  3. Creamy Banana: Include one ripe banana in the blender for a creamier and sweeter smoothie. Bananas add natural sweetness and enhance the texture of the smoothie.
  4. Protein Power: Boost the protein content by adding a scoop of your favorite plant-based protein powder. This variation makes the smoothie more filling and ideal for post-workout nourishment.
  5. Minty Fresh: Toss in a few fresh mint leaves for a refreshing flavor. Mint pairs well with the herbal taste of dandelion greens and adds a delightful aroma.
  6. Ginger Spice: Grate a small piece of fresh ginger into the mixture for a spicy and invigorating twist. Ginger also provides additional health benefits, including its anti-inflammatory properties.
  7. Creamy Coconut: Replace half of the lavender tea with coconut water or coconut milk to infuse the smoothie with a tropical coconut flavor.
  8. Berry Blast: Add a handful of fresh or frozen berries such as blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries. Berries are rich in antioxidants and add a burst of color and sweetness.
  9. Superfood Boost: Mix in a teaspoon of your favorite superfood powder, such as spirulina, chlorella, or moringa, to elevate the nutritional profile of the smoothie even further.
  10. Nutty Delight: Sprinkle crushed almonds, walnuts, or pistachios on top of the smoothie for added crunch and nutty flavor. Nuts also provide healthy fats and extra nutrients.
  11. Creamy Avocado: Increase the amount of avocado to make the smoothie creamier and add healthy fats. Avocado complements the greens and creates a luscious texture.
  12. Pineapple Cilantro: Combine half a cup of pineapple chunks with a handful of fresh cilantro leaves. This combination adds a tropical and herbaceous flavor to the smoothie.
  13. Sweet Date: Add one or two pitted dates to the smoothie for natural sweetness. Dates are a healthier alternative to refined sugars.
