I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

The cheddar bacon cheese ball is a popular appetizer in many parts of the world because it’s delicious, easy to make, and versatile. It combines the classic flavor combination of cheddar cheese and bacon, which is beloved by many people, and is perfect for serving at parties, gatherings, and game days.
Here’s a recipe for cheddar bacon cheese ball:

Serving size and preparation time:

The serving size of a cheddar bacon cheese ball will depend on how much other food you’re serving and how much your guests like cheese. As a rough guide, you can assume 8 oz cheese ball will serve 6-8 people as an appetizer or snack.
The preparation time for a cheddar bacon cheese ball is fairly short. It should take you about 15-20 minutes to mix the ingredients, shape the cheese ball, and wrap it in plastic wrap. After that, you’ll need to refrigerate it for at least an hour to allow it to firm up. So, in total, you can expect to spend about 1 hour and 15 minutes from start to finish.

Note: One thing to note is that you can make the cheese ball in advance and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days before serving. This means that you can prepare it ahead of time and not have to worry about it on the day of your gathering. Just make sure to keep it wrapped in plastic wrap until you’re ready to serve.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onion
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional, for rolling)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add the shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, chopped green onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Use a spatula to scrape the mixture into the center of a large piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper.
  4. Wrap the plastic wrap or parchment paper around the mixture, shaping it into a ball. Use your hands to smooth out any bumps or lumps.
  5. If you’d like to roll the cheese ball in chopped nuts, spread the nuts out on a plate. Unwrap the cheese ball and roll it in the nuts until it’s coated on all sides.
  6. Rewrap the cheese ball and refrigerate for at least an hour, or until it’s firm.
  7. Serve the cheese ball with crackers, sliced baguette, or other dippable snacks.

Notes:

  • You can use any type of bacon you like for this recipe, such as regular or turkey bacon. Just make sure it’s cooked until crisp and crumbled into small pieces.
  • If you don’t have green onion, you can substitute with finely chopped chives or omit it altogether.
  • For a little extra kick, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a splash of hot sauce to the cheese mixture.

Overall, the cheddar bacon cheese ball is a classic, crowd-pleasing appetizer that is perfect for any occasion, from casual get-togethers to more formal events. It’s a perfect blend of savory and creamy flavors and is sure to be a hit with anyone who loves cheese and bacon.
