Beet Greens Smoothie

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup Beet Greens
  • 2 tbsp. Pumpkin Seed Butter
  • 1 cup Strawberries
  • 1 tbsp. Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tbsp. Hemp Seeds
  • 1 cup Chamomile Tea

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Wash the beet greens thoroughly and chop them into small pieces.
  2. In a blender, combine the chopped beet greens, pumpkin seed butter, and strawberries.
  3. Add sesame seeds and hemp seeds to the blender.
  4. Pour in the chamomile tea as the liquid base.
  5. Blend all the ingredients until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency.
  6. If the smoothie is too thick, you can add more chamomile tea to reach your desired consistency.
  7. Pour the smoothie into a glass and serve immediately.

Here are a few  variations of the smoothie recipe:

  1. Green Power Smoothie: Replace the chamomile tea with coconut water or almond milk for a lighter taste. Add a handful of spinach or kale to boost the green goodness and pack in more nutrients.
  2. Tropical Twist: Swap the strawberries for mango or pineapple chunks to give the smoothie a tropical flavor. Add a squeeze of lime juice for extra zing.
  3. Creamy Nutty Blend: Instead of pumpkin seed butter, use almond butter or cashew butter for a creamy and nutty flavor. Top with crushed almonds or cashews for added crunch.
  4. Berry Blast: Mix and match berries like blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries for a vibrant and antioxidant-rich smoothie. Add a teaspoon of chia seeds for added fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
  5. Vanilla Delight: Add a splash of vanilla extract or vanilla protein powder to enhance the flavor. This variation pairs well with almond milk or oat milk.
  6. Banana Boost: Include a ripe banana in the mix for a creamy and naturally sweet smoothie. Banana adds potassium and additional creaminess.
  7. Protein-Packed: Incorporate a scoop of your favorite plant-based protein powder to make the smoothie more filling and suitable for a post-workout treat.
  8. Refreshing Mint: Add a few fresh mint leaves to the blender for a refreshing and uplifting taste. Mint complements the earthy flavors of beet greens and adds a pleasant aroma.
  9. Superfood Boost: Sprinkle a tablespoon of chia seeds, flax seeds, or maca powder to boost the smoothie’s nutritional profile and energy levels.
  10. Ginger Zing: Grate a small piece of fresh ginger into the smoothie to add a spicy and invigorating twist to the mix.
  11. Creamy Coconut Dream: Use coconut milk instead of chamomile tea for a rich and tropical flavor. Add a tablespoon of shredded coconut to enhance the coconut taste.
  12. Citrus Burst: Replace the strawberries with a mix of citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits, and tangerines. The citrusy tang will add a refreshing twist.
  13. Chocolate Indulgence: Mix in a tablespoon of cocoa powder or cacao nibs for a chocolatey delight. Add a dash of cinnamon for extra warmth.
  14. Berry Green Fusion: Combine beet greens with a mix of different berries like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries for a vibrant and antioxidant-packed smoothie.
  15. Peanut Butter Power: Swap pumpkin seed butter with peanut butter for a classic and nutty flavor. Top with crushed peanuts for added texture.
  16. Green Detox: Add a handful of fresh mint leaves and a slice of lemon to the mix for a cleansing and invigorating drink.
  17. Creamy Avocado Bliss: Include half an avocado to create a creamy and satisfying smoothie. Avocado adds healthy fats and a velvety texture.
