Fried chicken is undoubtedly America’s favorite and have made its way in almost every household. This is a quick and easy recipe of classic fried chicken with very basic ingredients and nothing fancy that you do not already have in your pantry. This recipe of crowd pleasing fried chicken is really incredible and you will be making the best fried chicken you ever had. This is a perfect Southern style fried chicken with crispy skin and kernels of fried dough attached. Tender and juicy chicken drumsticks with crunch and crispy outside served with your favorite sauce or dip. Devour the crispy fried chicken as it is or you can pair it up with salad or baked potatoes or any other veggies you like to spice up the game. There are many variations out there for fried chicken recipe but this one is the ultimate hold onto recipe for all your get-togethers. This recipe needs simple ingredients such as all-purpose flour, corn starch, garlic powder, paprika, thyme, salt, pepper, buttermilk, oil and chicken drumsticks. If you are not a fan of drumsticks you can always go for chicken breasts. If so, you need to increase the cooking time by few minutes so you get tender chicken breasts. Also you can replace the buttermilk in this recipe with milk and lemon mixture. This is a perfect recipe for when your cravings hit you. With few simple ingredients and not so much time taking dish, you can have flavorful crunch outside with tender and juicy meat inside. Mouthwatering! There is nothing like a fresh delicious fried chicken. So let’s get to the step by step recipe and list of ingredient along with measurements to help you make the best fried chicken.

Preparation time: 10 minutes Cook time: 15 minutes Total time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Chicken drumsticks 6-8 or chicken breasts
  • 500ml buttermilk
  • 300g all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoon corn starch
  • 1-2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1-2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt-to taste
  • Pepper-to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  • Prepare the drumsticks for frying and for that take a big bowl and add drumsticks and buttermilk in it such that drumsticks are completely dipped in it. Now wrap this mixture up with a plastic wrap and refrigerate it for 6-8 hours.
  • When ready for frying, place frying pan over medium heat and add oil in it..
  • For coating the chicken add flour, corn starch, paprika, garlic powder, thyme, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix properly so that everything combines well.
  • Coat the drumsticks with dry mixture properly and add in the hot oil.
  • Turn the heat to low and let the chicken fry for about 15 minutes or until it is tender enough.
  • Dish out fried chicken on paper napkin and serve with your favorite dip and a side salad.

 

Note: You can freeze the leftovers. Take a shallow airtight container and put the fried chicken in it or wrap each piece in foil then into freezer bag. Do not microwave instead reheat in the oven.
