Danish Puff

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

Danish Puffs are delicious pastries with a flaky crust, a creamy filling, and a sweet almond-topped glaze. This recipe combines a buttery dough, a rich filling, and a decadent topping to create a delightful treat. The Danish Puffs have a long history and are enjoyed as a classic pastry in many parts of the world.

Danish Puffs, also known as Almond Puffs, have their origins in Denmark. They are a variation of Danish pastry, which is a traditional Danish sweet treat. Danish pastries gained popularity in the 19th century and spread to other European countries, eventually becoming a beloved pastry worldwide.

The light and flaky crust of Danish Puffs is made by combining cold butter with all-purpose flour, creating a crumbly texture. The filling is a smooth mixture of eggs, butter, flour, and almond extract, providing a creamy and flavorful center. Finally, the puffs are topped with a sweet glaze made from confectioners’ sugar, butter, water, and vanilla extract, which is sprinkled with toasted sliced almonds for added crunch and flavor.
