INGREDIENTS

  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground star anise or ½ teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • Olive oil for brushing

 

PREPARATION

  1. Combine all the ingredients except the oil in a small bowl.
  2. Brush the steaks of your choice with olive oil.
  3. Sprinkle the rub generously all over the steaks.
  4. Cover and let stand for 2 hours at room temperature or, better still, refrigerate overnight.
