Oreo cream cookies are a delightful twist on the classic chocolate chip cookie, featuring the beloved Oreo cookie sandwiched between layers of soft and buttery cookie dough. These irresistible treats combine the rich flavors of Oreo cookies with the comforting taste of homemade cookies, creating a delightful fusion of textures and flavors that will please cookie lovers of all ages.

The history of Oreo cookies dates back to 1912 when the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) introduced this iconic sandwich cookie to the market. The Oreo cookie quickly became a popular snack choice for people across the United States and eventually gained international fame.

The classic Oreo consists of two chocolate-flavored wafers with a sweet and creamy filling in between. Over time, creative bakers and home cooks started experimenting with incorporating Oreo cookies into various desserts, including cakes, milkshakes, and, of course, cookies. The idea of using Oreo cookies as a filling between layers of cookie dough resulted in the creation of Oreo cream cookies, a mouthwatering treat that combines the best of both worlds – the beloved Oreo and the classic cookie.

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 33 Oreos

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. PREHEAT OVEN & SIFT FLOUR
    • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
    • Sift together the all-purpose flour and baking soda, and set them aside.
  2. CREAM BUTTER AND SUGARS
    • In a large bowl, cream together the room-temperature butter, packed light brown sugar, and white sugar until the mixture is creamy and fluffy.
  3. ADD PUDDING MIX, EGGS & VANILLA
    • Beat in the instant vanilla pudding mix until it is well blended.
    • Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until fully incorporated into the mixture.
  4. MIX IN FLOUR & CRUSHED OREOS
    • Mix in the sifted flour mixture at low speed until it is fully incorporated into the cookie dough.
    • Add 15 Oreos to the dough and mix on low to medium speed, letting the mixer crush the Oreos until they are crushed into small pieces and fully mixed into the dough.
  5. FORM COOKIE DOUGH BALLS
    • Using a 1.5 tbsp cookie scoop, scoop out 18 dough balls and place them on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper or Silpat mats, making sure to space the dough balls at least 2 inches apart.
  6. CREATE COOKIE SANDWICHES
    • Press the dough balls completely flat and thin out the dough rounds until they are wide enough to hold a whole Oreo.
    • Place one Oreo cookie onto each dough round.
    • Scoop out another eighteen 1.5 tbsp dough balls with the cookie scoop and place them on top of the Oreos.
    • Using your hands, gently smooth the dough so that the Oreo is completely covered in the dough, creating a sandwich-like cookie.
  7. BAKE THE COOKIES
    • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 12-13 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown and the centers of the cookies are set.
  8. COOL & ENJOY
    • Let the cookies cool on the cookie sheets before removing them.
    • Now, your delectable Oreo cream cookies are ready to be enjoyed! Delight in the luscious combination of soft cookie layers and the creamy Oreo filling in every delicious bite.
