Nuka Cola Quartz

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Combine the water, sugar, and the seeds from the split vanilla bean in a medium saucepan.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and whisk until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
  6. Transfer the syrup to an airtight container and place the split vanilla bean pod in it as well.
  7. Cover the container and refrigerate the syrup for at least 12 hours or up to 2 weeks, allowing the flavors to meld and develop.

  2. Add 1 tablespoon of heavy cream to the mixture.
