I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 ripe avocados
  • 3 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice (1 lemon)
  • 8 dashes hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1 large garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 medium tomato, seeded, and small-diced

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh out into a mixing bowl.
  2. Immediately add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and hot pepper sauce to the avocado flesh.
  3. Add the minced garlic, diced onion, salt, and ground black pepper to the mixing bowl with the avocado.
  4. Toss all the ingredients well until the avocado is evenly coated with the lemon juice and seasonings.
  5. Dice the avocados further using a fork or knife to achieve your desired texture.
  6. Add the small-diced tomato to the mixture and gently mix everything together until well combined.
  7. Taste the guacamole and adjust the salt and pepper to your preference.
  8. Serve the guacamole immediately with your favorite tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, or salads.

  9. Avocado and Greek Yogurt Guacamole: Use half avocado and half Greek yogurt to create a lighter version of guacamole with a creamy texture.
