The secret is that you start from scratch when it comes to burger patties. Avoid prepackaged patties and put some effort in to make homemade ground beef patties and you will see that the extra effort will be worth it. Complementing with perfectly melted cheese slice on top while cooking on grill this burger deserves five stars. To spice up your meal you can always add sides to it. Freshly cut seasoned fried would be great or you can simple chop up some veggies a make a simple side salad. There are many options out there. Go with what you are comfortable with. About this recipe, you can always adjust few ingredients according to you likes and dislikes. Choose your favorite vegetables and sauces. Total time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 American cheese slices
  • 4 Hamburger buns
  • Green leaf lettuce
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced pickles
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions:

  • Prepare the patties. Divide beef in 4 equal parts and shape each into a patty of even thickness about 1 inch each. Season both sides of the patties with salt and pepper.
  • Preheat grill. Brush oil on the grill gate.
  • Lay burgers on oiled grill and cook until nicely browned on both sides, 4-5 minutes each side. Turn the burgers only once after a good sear. Remove from grill when browned. During the last minute of cooking place cheese slice on top of each patty. It will melt nicely.
  • Spread mayonnaise and ketchup on bun bottoms then put burgers and toppings on and serve hot. You can serve with a side of French fries, salad or coleslaw.
