Turkey and Bow-Tie Pasta

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

Servings: 6

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 cups skim milk
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Dash of pepper
  • 1 lb turkey kielbasa or smoked turkey sausage, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 package (10 ounces) frozen mixed vegetables, thawed and well-drained
  • 6 oz bow-tie pasta, cooked according to package directions and drained
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine flour and milk. Add the dry white wine, Italian seasoning, and a dash of pepper, stirring until smooth.
  2. Continue cooking the mixture over medium heat until it thickens and becomes bubbly, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  3. Fold in the sliced turkey kielbasa or smoked turkey sausage, thawed mixed vegetables, and cooked bow-tie pasta. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for 5 to 8 minutes or until the entire mixture is heated throughout.
  4. To serve, top the pasta mixture with poppy seeds for added flavor and visual appeal.
