Cajun cuisine originated from the Acadian settlers, who were French-speaking colonists expelled from Acadia (present-day Nova Scotia, Canada) in the mid-18th century. These resilient settlers made their way to the bayous of Louisiana, bringing with them their distinct culinary traditions. Over time, their cooking techniques and ingredients mingled with the local flavors of the region, giving rise to what is now known as Cajun cuisine.

The Cajun Beef Burgers draw inspiration from the vibrant food culture of Louisiana, where bold spices, fresh seafood, and a mixture of French, African, and Native American influences come together. Cajun cooking is characterized by the use of ingredients such as bell peppers, onions, celery, garlic, and an array of herbs and spices like paprika, cayenne pepper, and thyme. These flavors combine to create a distinct and vibrant culinary experience.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and onion (for topping)
  • Mayonnaise and mustard (for condiments)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop griddle to medium-high heat.

  6. Once the burgers are cooked to your liking, remove them from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes.
