INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 eggs, lightly beaten
- ⅓ cup 2% milk
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 8 cups water
- 1 tablespoon butter
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large bowl, stir the flour, eggs, milk, and salt until smooth (the dough will be sticky).
- In a large saucepan, bring 8 cups of water to a boil.
- Coat a colander or a spaetzle maker with cooking spray.
- Pour the spaetzle dough into the prepared colander or spaetzle maker.
- Place the colander or spaetzle maker over the boiling water.
- With a wooden spoon, press the dough until small pieces drop into the boiling water.
- Cook the dumplings for 2 minutes or until they are tender and float to the surface.
- Remove the cooked spaetzle from the water using a slotted spoon.
- Toss the spaetzle with the tablespoon of butter.
