Pork and Green Beans Stir Fry

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

Serves :1

INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 oz. of lean Pork
  • 1 cup of Green Beans, snapped in half (use as much veggies as you want or replace Green beans with Kale)
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 1/2 inch of peeled and chopped ginger
  • Fish sauce (to taste)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat a skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chopped garlic and ginger to the skillet and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the lean pork to the skillet and cook until it’s no longer pink, and the edges are browned.
  4. Toss in the green beans (or kale) and stir-fry with the pork until they are tender-crisp. Adjust the cooking time based on your desired level of doneness for the vegetables.
  5. Season the stir-fry with fish sauce to taste. Start with a small amount and add more if needed. The fish sauce will add a savory and umami flavor to the dish.
  6. Continue stir-frying for another minute or so, ensuring the flavors are well combined.
  7. Once the pork and vegetables are cooked to your liking and everything is well-coated with the fish sauce, turn off the heat.
  8. Serve the stir-fry over steamed rice or noodles, if desired, and enjoy! You can garnish it with chopped green onions or cilantro for added freshness and color.

Here are some variations you can try for this stir-fry recipe:

  1. Thai Basil Pork Stir-Fry: Replace the green beans or kale with Thai holy basil leaves for a classic Thai basil pork stir-fry. Add some Thai chilies for extra heat and use soy sauce instead of fish sauce for a different flavor profile.
  2. Teriyaki Pork Stir-Fry: Create a teriyaki-inspired stir-fry by mixing soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger for the marinade. Stir-fry the pork and green beans with the teriyaki sauce until caramelized and glazed.
  3. Ginger Pork and Broccoli Stir-Fry: Swap the green beans or kale with broccoli florets. Add sliced onions and bell peppers for additional color and flavor. Increase the chopped ginger for a zesty kick.
  4. Pineapple Pork Stir-Fry: Add diced pineapple to the stir-fry for a sweet and tangy twist. Use a pineapple juice-based marinade with garlic and soy sauce to complement the fruit.
  5. Garlic and Black Pepper Pork Stir-Fry: Create a bold and peppery flavor by marinating the pork in a mixture of crushed black pepper, garlic, and a touch of soy sauce. Stir-fry with your choice of vegetables.
  6. Spicy Pork and Snap Peas Stir-Fry: Keep the green beans or kale and add snap peas for extra crunch. Use a combination of chili paste, soy sauce, and a hint of honey for a spicy and sweet sauce.
  7. Lemon Ginger Pork Stir-Fry: Infuse the stir-fry with bright citrus flavors by adding lemon zest and lemon juice to the marinade. Use fresh grated ginger for a refreshing taste.
  8. Sesame Pork and Asparagus Stir-Fry: Replace the green beans or kale with asparagus spears. Add toasted sesame seeds and a drizzle of sesame oil for a nutty flavor.
  9. Mango Pork Stir-Fry: Incorporate sliced mango for a tropical touch. Create a mango marinade using mango puree, lime juice, and a touch of honey.
  10. Hoisin Pork Stir-Fry: Combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, garlic, and a dash of Chinese five-spice powder for a savory and slightly sweet marinade. Stir-fry with your choice of vegetables.
