Popcorn Delight

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

Popcorn Delight is a delicious and addictive snack that combines the irresistible flavors and textures of popcorn, peanuts, crispy rice cereal, and marshmallows coated in a luscious blend of white candy coating and creamy peanut butter. This delightful treat is perfect for parties, movie nights, or any time you crave a sweet and crunchy snack that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy.

The origins of Popcorn Delight can be traced back to the 1950s when popcorn became increasingly popular as a movie theater snack. It wasn’t long before creative cooks and bakers started experimenting with popcorn to create new and exciting treats. The combination of popcorn with sweet elements like chocolate, caramel, and marshmallows became a hit, and various popcorn-based confections started popping up.

One day, a brilliant confectioner decided to take this concept to the next level and add peanuts and crispy rice cereal for an extra crunch. They then coated the mixture with a blend of melted white candy coating and peanut butter to create a sweet and creamy binding. The result was an absolute delight – a scrumptious snack that satisfied both the sweet and salty cravings.

Over the years, Popcorn Delight gained popularity at fairs, carnivals, and bake sales, and it soon found its way into home kitchens, becoming a favorite treat for families to enjoy together. The recipe has evolved and been passed down from generation to generation, with different variations and additions, but the core essence of the snack remains the same – a delightful combination of flavors and textures that everyone loves.
