Oreo Bites

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

Oreo Bites are a delightful and indulgent dessert that combines the beloved Oreo cookie flavor with creamy cheesecake. These bite-sized treats offer a rich and satisfying experience for Oreo enthusiasts and cheesecake lovers alike.

The history of Oreo Bites can be traced back to the popular Oreo cookie itself. The Oreo cookie was first introduced by the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) on March 6, 1912. The original Oreo cookie featured a simple design with two chocolate wafers and a sweet vanilla cream filling. Over the years, the Oreo brand has introduced various flavors and variations, gaining a massive following worldwide.

The idea of incorporating Oreo cookies into cheesecake recipes emerged as people sought creative ways to enhance the classic cheesecake flavor. The combination of the chocolatey, crunchy Oreo cookies with the smooth and creamy cheesecake proved to be a match made in dessert heaven.

The Oreo Bites recipe became popular due to its simplicity and the fact that it allowed people to enjoy the taste of a full-sized Oreo cheesecake in convenient, bite-sized pieces. These little treats became a hit at parties, potlucks, and gatherings, appealing to both kids and adults.

Today, Oreo Bites continue to be a beloved dessert option, appreciated for their delectable taste and the ability to satisfy sweet cravings in just a few bites.

INGREDIENTS

  • 36 Oreo Cookies, divided
  • 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) butter
  • 4 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate
  • 4 ounces white chocolate

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F: Ensure that the oven is preheated before you start making the Oreo Bites.
  2. Prepare the baking pan: Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with foil, leaving some extra foil on the sides to act as handles. This will make it easier to remove the cheesecake later.
  3. Crush the Oreos for the crust: Finely crush 24 Oreo cookies. You can use a food processor or place the cookies in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  4. Prepare the crust: Melt 1/4 cup of butter and mix it with the crushed Oreo crumbs. Press this mixture onto the bottom of the prepared baking pan, creating an even layer for the crust.
  5. Make the cheesecake batter: In a large bowl, use a mixer to beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until well blended and smooth. Add sour cream and vanilla to the mixture, and mix well.
  6. Add eggs: One at a time, add the eggs to the cream cheese mixture, beating after each addition just until blended.
  7. Stir in chopped Oreos: Take the remaining Oreo cookies and chop them into small pieces. Gently stir these chopped Oreos into the cheesecake batter.
  8. Pour the batter over the crust: Once the batter is well-mixed with the chopped Oreos, pour it over the prepared crust in the baking pan, ensuring it spreads out evenly.
  9. Bake the cheesecake: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake the cheesecake for approximately 35-40 minutes or until the sides are set, and the center is almost set. A slight jiggle in the center is okay as it will continue to set as it cools.
  10. Cool the cheesecake: After baking, remove the cheesecake from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack inside the pan.
  11. Refrigerate the cheesecake: Once the cheesecake is fully cooled, cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours or until it’s thoroughly chilled.
  12. Cut the cheesecake into bites: When the cheesecake is chilled and firm, use the foil overhang to lift it out of the pan. Cut the cheesecake into bite-sized pieces and place them on a baking tray lined with wax or parchment paper.
  13. Melt the chocolates: Melt the semisweet chocolate and white chocolate in separate bowls. You can use a microwave or a double boiler for this process.
  14. Drizzle the chocolates: Pour the melted chocolate into separate ziplock bags, one for the semisweet chocolate and one for the white chocolate. Snip a small corner off each bag to create a makeshift piping bag. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cheesecake bars in an appealing pattern.
  15. Chill and serve: Chill the cheesecake bites until the chocolate is set. Once ready, serve these delectable Oreo Bites to enjoy the perfect fusion of Oreo cookies and creamy cheesecake in every delightful mouthful.

Enjoy your homemade Oreo Bites, and be prepared to impress your friends and family with this delightful treat!
