Meatballs have been cherished as a way to utilize meat efficiently, stretch ingredients, and create flavorful, satisfying meals.

In Italian cuisine, meatballs, or “polpette,” are a beloved staple. These savory orbs of minced meat, often mixed with breadcrumbs, herbs, and cheese, are typically served with pasta or on their own as an appetizer. The concept of Muscle Meatballs aligns with the modern focus on balanced nutrition and the importance of protein in promoting muscle health and overall well-being. SERVES: 4 (4 MEATBALLS PER SERVING)

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil (for cooking)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  5. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of olive oil.
  6. Brown the meatballs on all sides, turning them gently to ensure even cooking. This step adds flavor and texture to the meatballs.
  7. Once the meatballs are browned, transfer them to a baking dish or sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
  9. Remove the Muscle Meatballs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  10. Arrange the meatballs on a serving platter and garnish with additional chopped parsley if desired.
  11. Serve the Muscle Meatballs as a protein-packed main course, pair them with your favorite whole grain or vegetable, or use them as a high-protein addition to your preferred pasta dish.
