Makes about 20 meatballs
INGREDIENTS:
• Ground lamb or beef, or a mixture of the two — 2 pounds
• Onion, minced — 1
• Fresh parsley or mint, finely chopped — 1/2 bunch
• Ground cumin — 1 tbsp.
• Cinnamon — 2 teaspoons
• Allspice (optional) — 1 tsp.
• Salt and pepper — to season
• Coconut oil — 1/4 cup
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef or lamb, minced onion, finely chopped herbs (parsley or mint), ground cumin, cinnamon, allspice (if using), and season with salt and pepper.
- Knead the mixture well to ensure the ingredients are evenly distributed. Cover the bowl and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Take the chilled meat mixture out of the refrigerator and shape it into patties or balls, each about the size of a small egg.
- Heat the coconut oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the meat patties or balls in batches until browned and cooked through. You can also grill or broil them if preferred.
- Once the meatballs or patties are cooked, serve them with brown rice and tzatziki sauce for a delicious and satisfying meal.
