GUAVA AND GINGER GLAZE

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

Guava and ginger combine in this glaze for a bright tropical flavor profile that is wonderful for homemade donuts, sweet fritters like beignet or even scones. It is particularly good on banana cake.

1 cup (240 ml)

PREP TIME: 5 minutes    COOK TIME: 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1½ tbsp (22 ml) water
  • 1¼ tsp (6 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tsp (3 g) powdered ginger
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) guava jelly
  • 2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar

PREPARATION

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and whisk well.
  2. Simmer the mixture for 7 to 8 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  4. Use the glaze on your favorite donut, beignet, or scone. Enjoy!
