  • 3/4 cupful sugar
  • 5 tablespoonfuls Crisco (shortening)
  • 1/2 cupful milk
  • 4 yolks of eggs
  • 1-1/2 cupfuls flour
  • 1/2 teaspoonful salt
  • 3 teaspoonfuls baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonful lemon extract

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Creating the Cake Batter:

  1. Creaming Crisco and Sugar: Cream the Crisco and sugar together until well combined.
  2. Incorporating Egg Yolks: Beat the egg yolks until they are light in color and texture. Add them to the creamed mixture.
  3. Sifting Dry Ingredients: Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  4. Combining Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk alternately to the creamed mixture. Mix well to create a uniform batter.
  5. Adding Flavor: Incorporate the lemon extract to infuse the batter with a delicate citrus essence.

 

Baking the Cake:

  1. Preparing the Tin: Grease and flour a small cake tin with Crisco to prevent sticking.
  2. Pouring the Batter: Pour the cake batter into the prepared tin, ensuring it’s evenly spread.
