Dan’s Peppery London Broil

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

Dan’s Peppery London Broil is a delicious and flavorful grilled steak recipe that features a tantalizing blend of spices and Worcestershire sauce. The dish is named after its creator, Dan, who developed this recipe to showcase the bold flavors of the London broil cut. This dish is perfect for meat lovers who enjoy a peppery kick and a tender, juicy steak. Whether cooked on the grill or broiled, this London broil recipe is sure to impress.

PREP: 5 MIN. + MARINATING

GRILL: 10 MIN.

MAKES: 2 SERVINGS

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 beef flank steak (about ¾ pound)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a small bowl, make a paste by combining the minced garlic, seasoned salt, and crushed red pepper flakes. Rub this mixture over both sides of the flank steak, ensuring that the spices are evenly distributed.
  2. Place the seasoned steak in a resealable gallon-size plastic bag. Add Worcestershire sauce to the bag, ensuring that the steak is well-coated. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, turning the bag once during marination. This allows the flavors to penetrate the meat and tenderize it.
  3. After marinating, remove the steak from the plastic bag and drain off any excess marinade. Discard the remaining marinade as it has come into contact with raw meat.
  4. Preheat your grill to high heat or preheat your broiler. Place the marinated steak on the grill or broiler pan, leaving about 4 inches of space between the meat and the heat source. Grill or broil the steak for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. For medium-rare, the internal temperature should read 145°F (63°C); for medium, 160°F (71°C); and for well-done, 170°F (77°C).
  5. Once the steak is cooked to your liking, remove it from the grill or broiler and let it rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, ensuring a tender and juicy steak. To serve, thinly slice the steak against the grain to maximize tenderness and enhance the texture.

Dan’s Peppery London Broil is now ready to be enjoyed. This flavorful and peppery steak pairs well with a variety of side dishes such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh green salad. It’s a versatile dish that can be served for casual weeknight dinners or as a crowd-pleasing option for backyard barbecues.
