Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

Ingredients : 3

INGREDIENTS:

  • 100 grams Dark Chocolate (at least 70% cacao)
  • 4 cups Strawberries (whole)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Coconut Flakes

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. WASH AND DRY STRAWBERRIES: Wash the strawberries thoroughly and dry them very well. Spread a large piece of parchment paper across a large baking sheet.
  2. MELT THE CHOCOLATE: Fill one large pot with water and place a smaller pot inside. Bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat to the lowest setting. Make sure no water can escape into the smaller pot. Add the dark chocolate to the smaller pot and stir continuously until the chocolate is fully melted. Remove the pot from the stovetop.
  3. DIP STRAWBERRIES IN CHOCOLATE: Tilt the pot with the melted chocolate to one side so that the chocolate pools. Hold the strawberries by the stem and dip them one-by-one into the melted chocolate. Place the chocolate-dipped strawberries on the parchment paper. Immediately sprinkle them with the shredded coconut.
  4. SET THE CHOCOLATE: Transfer the chocolate-dipped strawberries to the refrigerator for about 20 minutes or until the chocolate is completely set.
  5. STORE AND SERVE: Once the chocolate is set, remove the strawberries from the parchment paper and store them in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to eat. Enjoy!

Notes:

  • NO SHREDDED COCONUT: If you don’t have shredded coconut, you can use coarse sea salt as an alternative topping.
  • ADD A KICK: For a spicy twist, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne pepper on the chocolate before it hardens.

Variations of the Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries with Coconut recipe:

  1. White Chocolate-Coated Strawberries: Instead of using dark chocolate, melt white chocolate and dip the strawberries in it. Sprinkle shredded coconut or colorful sprinkles on top for a festive look.
  2. Nutty Delight: After dipping the strawberries in melted chocolate, roll them in chopped nuts like almonds, pistachios, or hazelnuts for added crunch and flavor.
  3. Tropical Twist: Dip the strawberries in melted dark chocolate and then sprinkle with toasted coconut flakes, dried pineapple, or dried mango for a tropical flavor profile.
  4. Minty Fresh: Add a drop or two of peppermint extract to the melted chocolate for a refreshing mint-chocolate twist. Garnish with crushed candy canes or mint leaves.
  5. Salty-Sweet Sensation: Sprinkle a pinch of coarse sea salt over the chocolate-dipped strawberries for a delicious sweet and salty combination.
  6. Orange Zest: Add a teaspoon of orange zest to the melted chocolate for a hint of citrusy flavor. Top with a sprinkle of orange zest for an extra pop of color and taste.
  7. Frozen Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries: After dipping the strawberries in chocolate, place them on a parchment-lined tray and freeze them for a delightful frozen treat.
  8. Rainbow Sprinkles: Instead of coconut, coat the chocolate-dipped strawberries with colorful rainbow sprinkles to make them even more fun and visually appealing.
  9. Spiced Strawberries: Mix a pinch of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or chili powder into the melted chocolate for a spiced twist. Garnish with a sprinkle of the same spice for added flavor.
  10. Cookie Crumb Coating: Crush your favorite cookies (like Oreos or graham crackers) and roll the chocolate-dipped strawberries in the crumbs for a delightful cookie crunch.
