I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

I like to eat this toasted, along with a bowl of soup.

Yield: 12 slices, each with 6.5 grams of carbohydrates and 1.7 grams of fiber, for a total of 4.8 grams of usable carbs and18 grams of protein.

 

INGREDIENTS 

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup oat bran
  • 1/4 cup wheat bran
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup vanilla-flavored whey protein powder
  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon blackstrap molasses
  • 2 teaspoons yeast

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Put the ingredients in your bread machine in the order given and run the machine.
  2. Remove the loaf from the machine and bread case promptly to cool.
