Whipped Cream

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 300ml Devondale All Rounder Thickened Cream
  • 1 tablespoon Devondale Skim Milk Powder
  • 1 tablespoon icing sugar

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Chill Ingredients: Place the beaters, bowl, and the 300ml Devondale All Rounder Thickened Cream in the refrigerator for a few minutes to chill.
  2. Whip the Cream: Using a mixer or whisk, whip the chilled Devondale All Rounder Cream until it reaches the desired consistency. It should be fluffy and hold its shape, but not over-whipped.
  3. Add Skim Milk Powder: For stiff whipped cream, gradually add 1 tablespoon of Devondale Skim Milk Powder to the whipped cream. This will help stabilize the cream and make it hold its shape longer.
  4. Sweeten with Icing Sugar: If desired, add 1 tablespoon of icing sugar to the whipped cream for sweetness. Adjust the amount of icing sugar to your taste preference.
  5. Combine and Serve: Continue whipping the cream until the skim milk powder and icing sugar are fully incorporated, and the cream has the right texture and sweetness. Use the whipped cream immediately as a topping for desserts, cakes, or any other sweet treat.

This recipe is great for making a versatile and stable whipped cream that can be used for a variety of desserts, and the added Devondale Skim Milk Powder helps maintain the cream’s structure.

Here are some variations of the whipped cream recipe:

  1. Vanilla Whipped Cream: Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the whipped cream before whipping for a classic vanilla flavor.
  2. Chocolate Whipped Cream: Fold in 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder (or melted chocolate) to the whipped cream for a rich and chocolatey twist.
  3. Berry Flavored Whipped Cream: Blend fresh berries (such as strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries) into a puree and fold it into the whipped cream for a fruity and colorful topping.
  4. Lemon or Orange Zest Whipped Cream: Add the zest of one lemon or orange to the whipped cream for a refreshing citrusy taste.
  5. Mint Whipped Cream: Stir in a few drops of mint extract or finely chopped fresh mint leaves to the whipped cream for a delightful minty flavor.
  6. Maple Whipped Cream: Substitute the icing sugar with maple syrup for a natural, slightly sweet, and maple-flavored whipped cream.
  7. Coconut Whipped Cream: Add 2-3 tablespoons of coconut cream (the solid part from a chilled can of coconut milk) to the whipped cream for a tropical twist.
  8. Spiced Whipped Cream: Mix in a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin spice for a warm and aromatic whipped cream.
  9. Coffee Whipped Cream: Dissolve 1-2 tablespoons of instant coffee granules in a small amount of hot water and fold it into the whipped cream for a coffee-flavored version.
  10. Almond or Other Extracts: Experiment with other extracts like almond, coconut, or hazelnut to create unique whipped cream flavors.
  11. Honey Whipped Cream: Substitute the icing sugar with an equal amount of honey for a natural sweetness and a hint of honey flavor.
  12. Cinnamon Sugar Whipped Cream: Combine a teaspoon of cinnamon with a tablespoon of granulated sugar and fold it into the whipped cream for a delightful cinnamon sugar twist.
  13. Salted Caramel Whipped Cream: Drizzle in a tablespoon of salted caramel sauce while whipping the cream to create a luscious, salty-sweet flavor.
