Eggnog Cupcakes

About

Brenda Gantt

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

Eggnog Cupcakes are a festive and delightful treat that captures the flavors of the holiday season. These cupcakes are infused with the rich and creamy taste of eggnog, a traditional holiday beverage made with eggs, milk, cream, sugar, and spices. The combination of eggnog and warm spices creates a unique and indulgent flavor that evokes feelings of comfort and celebration.

Eggnog has a long and storied history dating back centuries. The exact origin of eggnog is somewhat unclear, but it is believed to have its roots in medieval Britain. It was originally known as “posset,” a hot, milky ale-like beverage that was spiced and sweetened.

As the recipe evolved, eggs were added to the mixture, transforming it into the drink we now know as eggnog. Eggnog became associated with festive celebrations, particularly during the holiday season. It became a popular drink among the upper class in Europe and was eventually brought to North America by early settlers.

In the United States, eggnog became a beloved holiday tradition, and over time, variations of eggnog recipes emerged. One such adaptation is the creation of Eggnog Cupcakes, which incorporates the distinctive flavors of eggnog into a delightful and portable dessert.

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup eggnog

  4. Bake the cupcakes in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until they are barely golden brown.
  5. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and allow them to cool completely.

For the Frosting:

  2. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
  3. Spread or pipe the eggnog frosting onto the cooled cupcakes.
