Smores Pie

About

I am a self-taught cook. I started cooking around 18 years old. I stood in the kitchen and watched my mother, who was my biggest inspiration at the time, cook.

S’mores Pie is a delectable dessert that captures the classic flavors of the beloved campfire treat, S’mores. This delightful pie features a luscious layer of chocolate pudding, topped with a mountain of gooey marshmallows, all nestled in a buttery graham cracker crust. The combination of creamy chocolate, toasted marshmallows, and the familiar taste of graham crackers creates a nostalgic and indulgent dessert that brings back cherished memories of gathering around the campfire and enjoying S’mores with family and friends.

The origin of S’mores dates back to the early 20th century in the United States. The term “S’mores” is a contraction of “some more,” as people often asked for seconds after trying this delightful combination of flavors. The first recorded recipe for S’mores appeared in the 1927 publication “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts,” highlighting the treat’s popularity among Girl Scouts during camping trips.

Traditional S’mores are made by sandwiching a roasted marshmallow and a piece of chocolate between two graham crackers. The heat from the toasted marshmallow melts the chocolate, creating a gooey, irresistible treat.

The idea of turning the classic S’mores into a pie likely emerged as people sought creative ways to enjoy the flavors year-round without the need for a campfire. By incorporating the elements of S’mores into a pie, bakers could recreate the taste and experience of the campfire treat in a convenient and delicious dessert.

Over time, variations of S’mores Pie have been developed, each adding its own twist to the classic combination. From the traditional graham cracker crust and chocolate filling to the melty marshmallow topping, S’mores Pie has become a sought-after treat that satisfies dessert cravings with a delightful nod to the joys of camping and outdoor adventures.
